Step 1 3 mins | In a large pot add a little cooking oil and add half the onion and garlic and cook until softened for 2-3 mins. |
---|---|
Step 2 3 mins | Do the same in a large fry pan with the remaining onion and garlic. |
Step 3 | Tip the 2 cans of tomatoes into the large pot and mix well before covering and cooking on a medium to low heat. |
Step 4 | Tip the fry pan onion and garlic into a large bowl and add the beef and pork mince. Mix well and add salt and pepper to your taste. |
Step 5 2 mins | Roll the meatballs into balls and roll them in a little flour. |
Step 6 3 mins | Heat a little more oil in the fry pan and gently brown the meatballs (don't cook through). |
Step 7 25 mins | As they cook in batches move them straight into the simmering tomato sauce until all the meat mixture is browned. Continue to cook for 25 mins on a simmer nice and gently. |
Step 8 10 mins | Bring a large pot of cold water to the boil and cook the spaghetti according to packet instructions. Drain well and place on a large platter. |
Step 9 | Ladle the meatballs and tomato sauce out on top of the spaghetti. |
Step 10 | Add a good amount of chopped Italian parsley before shaving over the parmesan and serving. |
Step 11 | Grate over some fresh black pepper and serve. |
